New Mill House
From our centre of operations at Wath, North
Yorkshire, Greyfriars handles marketing and distribution on behalf
of our producer organisation, Northern Mushrooms Ltd.
Opened in 2002 at a cost of £500,000, New Mill House provides an
excellent working environment, along with state-of-the-art grading
and distribution facilities for Northern Mushrooms members,
enabling our team to deliver the consistent high standards that
have made our name.
Reflecting our ongoing commitment to Northern Mushroom members, we
invested in a new, state-of-the-art pre-packing line. Handling up
to 120 units per minute, the line includes a stretch wrapper, two
label applicators, a check weigher and metal detector ensuring a
high integrity finish for each pack.
Standard House - Investment &
Innovation Our new Morrison-dedicated pack house
was opened in September 2004 and represented an
investment of £300,000 in diversification. New fresh
produce lines include sweet corn, garlic and cabbage.
Comprising 13,000 sq ft of packing area with a 5,000 sq
ft of cold store, the new pack house features high
specification equipment, including sweet corn stripping
technology which is completely new to the UK. With a
capacity to process 3,000 packs per hour, product
quality is further optimised. The stripping line uses
air knives to minimise mechanical damage and improve
shelf life and appearance and its speed of operation
ensures that the processed corn can be returned to the
cold store within 20 minutes of leaving it.
Poland has gained a reputation for producing exceptional
quality, low cost mushrooms. PO member Okechamp SA is
probably the most advanced production unit in that
country and is both Eurep Gap and BRC accredited.
Greyfriars sources the more "difficult to pick" lines
such as button mushrooms from this source, is able to
transport them to the UK in just 27 hours and have them
ready for onward dispatch in under an hour. |
