At Greyfriars we are proud of our
history. From humble origins in 1987 as Wilgro Mushrooms
supplying regional wholesalers and commission markets, to
our position today as one of the UK's premier fresh
produce growers, packers and marketeers, we have made our
mark by always putting quality, service and innovation at
the centre of our marketing strategy.
Philosophy
Despite challenging times for the
industry, our marketing-driven philosophy has ensured
we're continually evolving and setting new standards to
drive the industry forward.
Centre of
Operations
Our modern grading and distribution
facilities enable us to deliver the consistently high
standards that have made our name.
The centre of our operation is our
production facility and offices at New Mill House in Wath,
North Yorkshire. Sufficient product quality and volume to
meet the demands of the multiples is generated by our
Producer Organisation Northern Mushrooms, through our own
farm, a satellite system of 15 growers close to Wath, and
farms in Ireland and Poland that have been integrated into
our marketing system. Rapid sales expansion, together with
investment in state-of-the-art technology has made us one
of the country's leading fresh produce suppliers.

More recently our high service levels
and customer focus have been rewarded by a number of
diversification opportunities and in September 2004 we
opened Standard House, our new advanced packing and
production facility for seasonal vegetables. This
development has enabled us to broaden our range of
activities to include packing cabbage, stew packs and
courgettes and become a leading packer of garlic and
sweetcorn.
Diversification
And British farming has also benefited
from our success - an ongoing recruitment and training
programme has ensured we now have more than 15 satellite
growers who value the opportunity to diversify during
these testing times for the farming industry.
